Community Service Club

The Longfellow Community Service Club gives students hands-on opportunities to make a difference at school and throughout the San Diego community. Students learn about local needs, meet community organizations, and work together on meaningful service projects throughout the year.

Last year's projects and partnerships included:

• San Diego Blood Bank — hosted a community blood drive

• San Diego Humane Society — learned about animal welfare and ways to help local animals

• Veterans Day — wrote letters of appreciation to local veterans

• Longfellow Care Closet — helped launch a resource providing food, clothing, and hygiene essentials to Longfellow families

• Unhoused Outreach — assembled essential-care kits for neighbors experiencing homelessness

• Book Drive — collected books benefiting DEEP and Reach Out and Read

• National Marine Mammal Foundation — welcomed a guest speaker to learn about marine mammals and conservation

• Earth Day — partnered with Tree San Diego and SDUSD to plant six new trees on the Longfellow campus

• Ronald McDonald House — organized a candy collection to support the familes staying at Rady's Children's Hospital. 

The club is designed to help students see that you don't have to be an adult to make a difference. Along the way, students build leadership skills, empathy, and a stronger connection to their community.

The Community Service Club is proudly supported by the Los Compadres PTO and welcomes students who want to help make Longfellow—and our greater community—a little better.
