Volunteer forms
A visitor, guest, or volunteer for a one-time event at school with no
unsupervised access to students.
Examples:
Read Across America guest reader
Guest/resource speaker
One-time volunteer for school or classroom event
Participation in a parent involvement activity such as “Family Friday”
with their child(ren) are considered visitors
Parents eating lunch with their child(ren)
Screening Requirements:
Be sponsored or approved by a school site or district employee.
Current government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport,
military ID, US or other government ID)
Persons with group exposure who have little or no direct unsupervised exposure or contact with children, participating in school activities in open and public settings, and with classroom exposure who work with children and are supervised by district staff.
Examples:
Day Field Trip Chaperone (non-driving)
Classroom Volunteer (reading, tutoring, assistance)
After-school Programs (with staff supervision)
Room Parent
Campus Volunteer (office helpers, playground helpers)
Event Chaperone
PTA/Foundation/SSC functions
Screening Requirements (form are linked below):
Be sponsored or approved by a school site or district employee.
Current government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport,
military ID, US or other government ID)
School Volunteer Application and Code of Conduct
Sexual Offender (Megan’s Law) check by designated site personnel
Tuberculosis clearance card or TB Risk Assessment Form
Individuals with classroom exposure, who work directly with students, and may have unsupervised time with students, but only while on district property with district personnel on site.
Typically are areas outside of the classroom where staff or other adults can observe at most times, but may occasionally include short solitary time with children and short duration of obstructed view.
Examples:
On-site tutoring outside of the classroom
Counseling or wellness support outside of the classroom
After-school/lunch club advising

Current U.S. state-issued photo ID or driver’s license (for School
Police Services to conduct a background check on the SDLAW & NCIS databases) No other form of ID can be used for Category C clearance.

Criminal background check conducted by School Police (no cost)
Tuberculosis clearance card or TB Risk Assessment Form
Volunteers with unrestricted exposure, who work with children and may be unsupervised by district staff. This volunteer likely will have direct and unsupervised interaction with children.

High School Athletics Personnel
Off-site Tutoring or Mentoring
Field Trip Chaperones who Drive Students
Overnight Field Trip Chaperone
Walk-on Coach

Government-issued photo ID for NEW Category D volunteers (license, passport, military ID, US/other gov’t ID)

Here are just a few ways you can jump in:
Join the PTO – Help shape the events, programs, and priorities that make our school community so special. Plus, it’s a great way to connect with other parents and stay in the loop. Contact us for more information!
Help tame traffic in the Cone Zone - Open car doors, greet students, and wave to parents, basically help the morning coast along
Be a Room Parent – Support your child’s teacher, coordinate with other families, and help make classroom activities run smoothly. Interested? Reach out to your teacher and sign up on Konstella!
Book Fair Crew – Help us turn the library into a pop-up bookshop! Book Fairs typically happen twice a year.
Campus Cleanup – Lend a hand at cleanup events. Perfect way to give back and get a little fresh air. Contact our VP of Campus Improvement for more info!
Los Padres Team – Our behind-the-scenes heroes! Help with event setup, breakdown, and keeping things running smoothly.
Running Club – Cheer on our student runners in the morning and help keep things moving!
Garden & Cooking Program – Dig in with students as they grow, harvest, and cook in our school garden.
STEM Programs – Help bring hands-on science, tech, and engineering fun to the classroom.
Event Volunteers – From school dances to Dia de los Muertos, we’re always looking for extra hands to help bring events to life.
