Looking Ahead: Black History Month & Community Connections
As we prepare for Black History Month, we’re excited to share meaningful opportunities for students and families to learn from and engage with our local community.
In addition, the Black History Month committee found a great local comic creator, Keithan Jones, to do 4 assemblies for our school in February (details pending). This particularly creator also puts on the annual Black Comix Day, a free and local two-day event celebrating Black creators in comics, animation, and film, hosted at the WorldBeat Cultural Center in San Diego. Stay tuned for more Black History month updates!
We are also looking to bring in other black creators and educators in the month of February. To follow along as we roll out these activities or to take part in the planning of Black History Month at Longfellow, contact the PTO VP of Access, Belonging, and Connection Alison Diaz at abc@longfellowcompadres.org.
